Users can access Formspring via their browser, mobile browser, iPhone, or Android app. As a member of the product team at Formspring, I designed and contributed to various modular components of the main website to improve and enrich user experience and increase the sign-up rate of new visitors.

Formspring Welcome Slideshow

With nearly 30 million registered users, Formspring is a place to express your point of view and personality through engaging conversations and interacting with friends, followers, and people you just find cool. In conjunction with the site relaunch, we pivoted our brand messaging and re-designed the homepage for logged-out visitors to include an animated slideshow, explaining how Formspring works with playful animations and original illustrations.

Digital Commons Demo Sites

The Digital Commons demonstration site allows potential customers to test-run the standard features and interface of Digital Commons’ hosted software service. Following the launch of the new Digital Commons company website, a redesign of this dated sister site was warranted. The new demo site design was to share design elements with the main site, but appear to be visually separate as well. Here are the three final proposals.

Sharwood’s Chutney

A historic British food company, the Sharwood’s brand is well known in the United Kingdom but not well recognized in the United States. Their dated packaging needed to rely less on traditional appearance and more on an exotic aesthetic that conjures thoughts of sumptuous spices and flavors. Using visual cues, such as the die-cut shape of an ogee arch and the Taj Mahal, the new packaging offers an authentic India experience. Shown here is new packaging for Sharwood’s chutneys and puppodums.

Maritus Bloom Wine Label

The labeling system for Maritus Bloom Winery & Vineyard’s cabernet sauvignon celebrates Napa Valley’s proximity to the ocean and all the complexity of the life within it. The label features a hand-made linoleum-cut print of a jellyfish–a play on the company’s name, Maritus Bloom, and the term for a swarm of jellyfish. The color palette compliments the rich colors of the wine itself and the strange and exotic colors jellyfish and other ocean life can display.

Joshua Tree Music Festival

The Joshua Tree Music Festival is an annual roots music festival that takes place in Joshua Tree State Park, in southern California. This brand identity reflects the client’s Bohemian style and eclectic nature by embracing a decorative and hand-made aesthetic. The color palette consists of three vibrant spot colors, which are applied to all marketing elements. The design is intended to easily transfer through screen printing.

Digital Commons is an online, full-service, hosted software platform to create repositories for institutions to manage, display, and publish their own scholarship to the web. A company-wide initiative, the Digital Commons website was designed to encompass both a complete marketing message with selling features to prospects and showcase the many benefits DC subscribers enjoy when they launch a repository site through Digital Commons.

Custom designed websites for Institutional Repositories (online centers for academic libraries to archive and showcase their institution’s output) and academic journals to be hosted through bepress’ Digital Commons software platform. These site designs involved integrating an existing institutional brand within a set of platform constraints, while creating a professional and elegant finished site that serves the library and campus.

bepress Journals Sales Catalogs

A complete package of marketing collateral to promote subscription to bepress’ collection of 67 academic journals. This collection includes a main catalog and supplemental pull-out brochures for each subject matter therein: Economics, Law, Political Sciences, Statistics, Education, Medicine, and Technology. The overall design of the package is meant to allow new collateral to be easily created by combining individual journals into new collections to suit new and changing scholarly markets.

Red Room Overheard! Feed

Red Room’s Overheard! Feed page is designed to offer site members a live feed of information, updates and content from their Red Room contacts and related news and literature sources, such as truncated blog entries, videos, images and podcasts uploaded by contacts and external community and news feeds, such as Facebook updates, Associated Press news articles. Users can post their own content into their feed using Yapp! status updates. Overheard! feed offers web syndication by which material originating on Red Room will be made available to multiple other sites. (work in progress)
