Users can access Formspring via their browser, mobile browser, iPhone, or Android app. As a member of the product team at Formspring, I designed and contributed to various modular components of the main website to improve and enrich user experience and increase the sign-up rate of new visitors.

Formspring Welcome Slideshow

With nearly 30 million registered users, Formspring is a place to express your point of view and personality through engaging conversations and interacting with friends, followers, and people you just find cool. In conjunction with the site relaunch, we pivoted our brand messaging and re-designed the homepage for logged-out visitors to include an animated slideshow, explaining how Formspring works with playful animations and original illustrations.

Digital Commons Demo Sites

The Digital Commons demonstration site allows potential customers to test-run the standard features and interface of Digital Commons’ hosted software service. Following the launch of the new Digital Commons company website, a redesign of this dated sister site was warranted. The new demo site design was to share design elements with the main site, but appear to be visually separate as well. Here are the three final proposals.

Digital Commons is an online, full-service, hosted software platform to create repositories for institutions to manage, display, and publish their own scholarship to the web. A company-wide initiative, the Digital Commons website was designed to encompass both a complete marketing message with selling features to prospects and showcase the many benefits DC subscribers enjoy when they launch a repository site through Digital Commons.

These site designs involved integrating an existing institutional brand within a set of platform constraints, while creating a professional and elegant finished site that serves the library and campus.

Red Room Clubs Page

Red Room Clubs gives members the opportunity to create or join public or private groups to discuss common interests, start a book club, or meet like-minded people. Companies, associations, libraries, and other organizations can also create clubs to network and interact with others. The Happening Now! live update feed displays all content added to clubs in real time. Each club has a customizable landing page with administrator controls. The club pages include movable widgets, which administrators can include the features they want and rearrange them to suite their needs. As the clubs progress, they can add new widgets to their club pages and modify overall content at will.

Red Room Main Navigation

Red Room’s original navigation system had become obsolete and no longer reflected all the features and updates that had been made to the site. The interim solution had been to create a second—and then a—navigation bar that fell below the previous on the home page. The overall navigation lacked any clear hierarchy and most pages subsequently lacked full navigation. My solution involved re-mapping the site, eliminating the obsolete links, integrating related links under comprehensive headers, combining the three levels of navigation into one site-wide bar with drop-down menus.

Red Room Classifieds Job Listings

Specifically designed to serve the needs of the writing and publishing community, Red Room Classifieds is a resource for authors, journalists, editors and all media professionals. Classifieds will primarily offer job postings and advertisements for events, writing courses, book clubs, conferences and other points of interest for writers. The multi-page form for posting a job is designed to be navigable by users of all skill levels, with a friendly and witty interface, providing all possible fields the literary community may need.
